Elemi Essential Oil

Elemi Essential Oil

Elemi is a tropical tree native to the Philippines that is closely related to frankincense and myrrh. Elemi oil is sometimes called poor man's frankincense for its similar properties. The Egyptians used elemi resin or oil as a fixative in the embalming process; and the oil was used in 16th century Europe to treat wounds and skin infections.

The word elemi comes from an Arabic phrase meaning above and below; in reference to elemi oil's ability to support both physical and spiritual health.
