Catnip Essential Oil

Catnip Essential Oil

Also called Cat Mint, catnip is indigenous to Northern Africa, the Mediterranean, and North America. Catnip has been used in European folk remedies from the 1500s, and catnip tea was the most popular herbal beverage in Europe before the introduction of teas from China.

North American catnip is commonly used as a powerful insect repellent and as a stimulant for cats. The nepetalactone in catnip is reportedly at least ten times (some reports say 20 times) more effective than DEET (Diethyltoluamide) at repelling mosquitoes.
