Absolutes are solvent extractions from a more complex process than steam distillation or cold-pressing that is used to obtain the aromatic essence of plant materials. It is often employed for materials with a small aromatic percentage, or to capture the more delicate essences that cannot be easily obtained through other means of extraction. These essences are mostly used in natural perfumery.
